Chocolate Fish

We didn't see any chocolate fish but we did see the ubiquitous friands. What are friands, well I am glad you asked, as I have just spent the last fifteen minutes trying to find out. So what's the difference between a friand, a muffin and a fairy cake? Well I am not sure, but I can now tell you what a friand is and I quote

"Friands are bite sized pastries made from almond meal, butter, sugar, egg white and flour. They also usually have a flavour folded through them such as blueberries...."

Phew! Glad that's over anyway back to the chocolate fish. So we had arrived back from Lake Taupo last weekend and because we had the car till Monday we decided to put it good use. We unsuccessfully tried to get to Scorching Bay before and were curious just to see if it was the nicest beach in Welly. Here's a pic.

Before we hit the beach however we called into the Chocolate Fish Cafe which again came highly recommended. Here's a few pics.

We decided to eat inside as it was a little breezy, but if you have the constitution there's plenty of seats outside.

I don't know whether it's the best beach in Welly, but it's certainly a great place to go for a treat. They even supply the sun factor and mossie spray!
